🕐 Panama is so close to the equator (and therefore hours of daylight are so constant) that there's no daylight savings time here. Y'all are about to switch your clocks, but I am not. Soon I'll have to remember to take into account time differences when I meet up with folks back home.
🦓 I'm so used to zebras being at the end of the alphabet that I was for some reason quite surprised that in Spanish, they are "cebras".
✈ In Panama, "PTY" is like an abbreviation for "Panama" (the city), even though there's no "T" or "Y" in the city name. This is because the Panama city airport, Tocumen, has airport code "PTY".
🐸 Advice from Savvy the dog: Don't eat toads. They can make you sick to your stomach.

🤟 I just *finally* figured out the pun on the sign below. I've been to this restaurant a bunch of times (it's one of my host's favorite restaurants, so whenever we have lunch together, we tend to wind up here). What makes it ironic that it took me so long is that the pieces I missed are math words. How do you say "plus" and "times" in Spanish? You almost never learn those words in a regular Spanish class. Answer: "plus" is "mas" (which is the same word as "more"), and "times" is "por" (which is the same word as "for" or "by").

"Plus Love, Times Favor" . . . or . . . "More love, por favor (please)". |
